Today's Convective Outlook

The north-central U.S. sees another round of severe weather tonight.

The northern Plains will still see even more thunderstorm action. While gusty winds will be possible, the main concern will be hail larger than quarters. In fact, the Storm Prediction Center has highlighted a Slight Risk for these threats, including Minot, Bismarck, and Fargo, N.D., Fergus Falls, St. Cloud and Minneapolis, Minn. and the northern portion of South Dakota, including Aberdeen and the Lake Traverse Reservation, and western Wisconsin, including Eau Claire.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for much of North Dakota, including Minot and Bismarck.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for portions of western into central Minnesota, southeast North Dakota, and northern into northeast South Dakota. Cities include Fargo, S.D., Alexandria and Redwood Falls, Minn., and Mobridge, Aberdeen, and Watertown, S.D.

Make sure to know the difference between a watch and a warning should they become issued. A “watch” means that conditions are favorable for severe weather to occur and to be on alert for any rapidly changing conditions. A “warning” means that severe weather is imminent, and you should act fast to remain safe.

The best way to remain safe is to stay prepared and informed about your local weather. Have a severe weather kit packed with a battery-operated radio, water, and non-perishable food items should you be without power for long periods of time. Also, check the WeatherBug app frequently for any updates on today's severe weather. Remember, "When Thunder Roars, Go Indoors!"
