UPDATED By WeatherBug Sr. Meteorologist, James West
Snowfall forecast through early Wednesday.

A late-season nor’easter continues to slam New England with blizzard conditions tonight. Besides the wind and snow, rain and coastal flooding are creating problems along the coast.

A major coastal storm is spinning off of the southeastern New England Coast tonight. It will be over eastern Maine early Wednesday.

This track will bring waves of wintry weather into the Northeast through into early Wednesday morning. Bands of heavy snow will be likely over interior New England and ending across the Hudson Valley. Almost 3 feet of snow has fallen across portions of upstate New York, with more than 2 feet reported across western Massachusetts and northwestern Connecticut. Even the lower Hudson Valley, central Connecticut, central Massachusetts had pockets of snowfall accumulations between 18 and 24 inches of snow.

Accompanying the wintry mess will be high winds that will continue to gust in excess of 40 mph. Gusts on Tuesday reached 45 to 65 mph from the Boston area to southern Maine’s coast. The high winds could continue to produce white out conditions and knock out power.

Blizzard Warnings continue from northeastern eastern New York into southern Maine.  This includes Albany, N.Y., Burlington, Vermont, Manchester, N.H., and Augusta and Portland, Maine.

Winter Storm Warnings remain in effect from northern Pennsylvania to Maine, including Cleveland, Ohio, Buffalo and Syracuse, N.Y., and Montpelier, N.H. Winter Weather Advisories are draped along the edges of the warnings in northern Ohio and Pennsylvania into the lower Hudson Valley and northern Massachusetts. This includes Canton, Ohio, and Williamsport, Pa., Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and Gloucester, Mass.

As the storm system continues to move up the coast, onshore winds are pushing the ocean inland, causing localized flooding during high tide tonight. High tide is occurring this afternoon across New Englanlate tonight into early Wednesday morning across portions of the eastern Massachusetts coastline. Coastal Flood Warnings and Advisories are placed for Nantucket, Plymouth, and Cape Cod.

While the snow will wind down from south-to-north into early Wednesday, light snow showers and wind will remain in the picture throughout the day on Wednesday. Temperatures will remain quite chilly, so the snow is likely to remain through at least midweek.
