Every day, WeatherBug® Schools make news all over the country. As the largest automated weather station network in the world, its information is used in the daily weather broadcasts of more than 70 television stations, including all the major networks. Millions of households tune in each week for live local conditions and forecasts thanks to the WeatherBug® Schools Network.
The WeatherBug® Schools Network is made up of more than 8,000 schools across the country using WeatherBug® weather stations to integrate live, local weather data and the latest technology into classroom learning. This is made possible through WeatherBug® Achieve, the award-winning software curriculum that integrates your weather station data or any other school in the network into the classroom.
In addition to the educational benefits, WeatherBug® Schools receive severe weather alerts. These critical weather alerts can provide advanced warning of storms and other threats like flash floods, heat indices, wind and more. Schools equipped with WeatherBug Total Lightning benefit from cloud-to-cloud and cloud-to-ground lightning strike notification along with advanced warnings of severe weather sent directly to mobile phones, computers and an external visual/audible alarm system.
"Schools are the center of our communities and are where we go to get local conditions."
- Doug Hill, Chief Meteorologist, WJLA - Washington DC Area
Stimulate and engage young minds with an award-winning, Web-based program that incorporates live weather data into dynamic and interactive tools and lessons. WeatherBug Achieve® integrates science, math, geography, technology and more to improve student achievement using the live weather data from your school's very own WeatherBug® weather station or from any of the other 8,000+ schools in the WeatherBug Schools Network.
At the heart of our WeatherBug® program is the WeatherBug® Weather Station, a suite of different components that track 27 different weather variables. Built to withstand all weather, the Weather Station is easily installed in the desired location and provides live weather data feeds into our network of over 8,000 stations, as well as back to the customer community.
The WeatherBug® Total Lightning Network (WLTN) sets a new standard in lightning and severe weather detection. WLTN is the FIRST integrated intracloud (IC) and cloud-to-ground (CG) lightning detection network. IC lightning detection is crucial for characterizing severe storm precursors — improving lead times and weather management planning.
