WeatherBug Protect is the first location-based mobile solution that proactively alerts end-users when severe weather threats are detected or pre-defined weather thresholds are exceeded within their proximity. WeatherBug Protect supports messaging for voice, paging, SMS text and email, and provides administrators with a delivery status and end-user response message. And, the service may be extended to serve as a broader notification platform enabling administrators and other officials to initiate their own alert messages.
The system continuously monitors potentially threatening weather conditions and is the first to provide users with real-time wind gust monitoring. WeatherBug Protect matches weather alerts with each end-user’s specific location, weather profile and mobile device and then formats and delivers the appropriate alert message — end-user’s receive precise, relevant and immediate alerts.
Over 8,000 WeatherBug Tracking Stations deliver 27 live weather parameters including temperature, heat index, wind speed, direction and gusts. This unprecedented improvement in weather granularity provides end-users with greater accuracy, relevancy and warning than was previously available with traditional ZIP code based systems.
