The beginning of August signals the end of summer with autumn just around the corner. Mother Nature is wasting no time bringing hints of autumn temperatures to the East. In fact, a touch of fall-like weather is in store for this evening`s annual ritual of the Hall of Fame festivities and preseason game in Canton, Ohio.
Those attending tonight`s Hall of Fame Preseason game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Miami Dolphins won`t be disappointed in the weather. A Canadian high pressure settling in across the Upper Mississippi Valley will ensure temperatures barely inch into the lower 70s prior to kickoff. The mercury will edge down into the upper 50s and lower 60s by the tail end of the game.
The Pro Football Hall of Fame opened in 1963. Canton, Ohio, was selected as the Hall of Fame home because of the city`s long history with football`s origins - the precursor of the National Football League was found in the city in 1920.
The induction ceremony is held the first Saturday of August every year, with four to seven football players, coaches, owners and other significant contributors to football being enshrined into the Hall of Fame. The following day, the traditional Hall of Fame Preseason game kicks off from Fawcett Stadium located adjacent to the Hall of Fame and museum.
