Winter is not leaving without putting up a fight in the East and the eastern Plains. A low pressure system will bring rain, snow, and chilly weather to the Mid-Atlantic while snow and wind keep winter coats in use across the Ohio Valley and Midwest. Otherwise, bright sunshine will greet residents for large stretches of the West and Plains.
WeatherBug Meteorologist Todd Nelson has the latest in this exclusive WeatherBug National Outlook.
Spring snow will send everyone from Indianapolis to Washington scrambling for the snow shovel. The heaviest snow this morning will be from the Ohio Valley to the Interstate 81 corridor in Maryland where several inches of accumulation are likely. As the day progresses, snow will mix with rain in the Mid-Atlantic while a wintery mix scoots into New Jersey and southeastern New York.
Much of New England will escape the snow but winter`s chill will be in full throttle with cloudy skies and brisk northeasterly winds wrapping around the storm center. While snow showers will swirl across the Ohio and Tennessee valleys, a few spots in the Central Rockies, the Deep South, Plains, and West will enjoy sunshine.
There will be no sign of warmth across the U.S. to kick off the work week. Highs in the teens, 20s, and 30s will stretch from the Rockies into the Southern Plains, Tennessee Valley and Mid-Atlantic. Only the West Coast, Southwest, Texas and the Deep South will escape the cold with highs in the 50s, 60s, and 70s.
