February 22, 2013
By WeatherBug Sr. Meterologist, James West
WeatherBug`s Dangerous Thunderstorm Alert (DTA) provides the fastest warnings to act and seek shelter during Thursday`s severe thunderstorms across eastern Texas and western Louisiana.
WeatherBug analyzed four cases from Thursday, two storms that produced damaging winds, a storm that produce a tornado and another from an unconfirmed tornado that killed one person. The time between when WeatherBug issued its exclusive DTA and other weather applications alerted, was significant. In three of the four cases, WeatherBug customers received 30 or more minutes advanced warning, an in one case a little over a dozen minutes.
