Spectacular weather is on the horizon for Game 6 of the 2009 World Series this evening in New York. The problems could arise if the Phillies win, forcing Game 7 to be played Thursday in New York with a few showers in the forecast.

The showdown between the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Yankees begins with the first pitch at 7:57 p.m. EST at Yankee Stadium. A crisp autumn day will give way to a pleasant evening with increasing clouds, keeping temperatures from plummeting too much after the 4:48 p.m. EST sunset. Lower 50s will give way to lower 40s by the end of the game with light south wind.

Should the Phillies win today, then Game 7 of the World Series will take place Thursday at Yankee Stadium with a 7:57 p.m. EST start time. Very light showers will move through in the evening with temperatures falling from the lower 50s into the mid 40s by game time. Brief showers will continue during the game, with just enough rain to put a few drops on a poncho or umbrella.

Temperatures will remain steady in the 40s, but with the winds picking up from the northwest, wind chills will dip into the 30s later in the game.
