Weekend Weather Outlook

Typical of the last weekend in July, storms and seasonably hot weather will dot weather landscape across the U.S.

WeatherBug Meteorologist Steve Prinzivalli has the latest in his exclusive WeatherBug National Outlook.

Today

Showers and storms will be on the weather menu in the Great Lakes, Ohio Valley and central Appalachians to start the weekend. A cold front will spark this soggy weather in the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley before spreading into the central Appalachians by evening. A few storms will be severe with large hail and gusty winds.

Meanwhile, morning sunshine will lead to afternoon storms in the Interior West. Places like Denver, Salt Lake City and Missoula, Mont., may see outdoor plans interrupted by these storms.

A trip to the beach or local pool on July`s last Saturday will be dry and warm for much of the Southeast, Plains and West Coast.

Triple digit heat will bake the southern Plains, Southwest into interior California today while 90s will be found in a large area from the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic to the central Plains and Mountain West. Highs in the 80s will be common from the Front Range and northern Plains to the Ohio Valley and Northeast.

Meanwhile, the coolest spots with highs in the 70s will drain into the Upper Mississippi Valley and Great Lakes.

Sunday

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will brush the Great Lakes to the Northeast and south along the I-95 corridor to the Sunshine State. More storms will wreck havoc by the afternoon in the Mountain West. Otherwise, dry weather will keep outdoor activities going from the northern Plains to Mid-Mississippi Valley and along the West Coast.

Another day of searing heat will bake the southern Plains and Southwest with highs near the century mark. Highs will reach the 90s in the Southeast with widespread 80s covering the Mid-Atlantic, Ohio and Tennessee valleys, central and northern Plains, Mountain West, Great Basin and Northwest.

The air conditioners won`t be buzzing as often and the jump into the pool will be a bit cooler in the Great Lakes and Northeast with highs in the 70s to around 80 degrees.
