The UV index, otherwise known as ultraviolet index, detects how much radiation the sun is emitting in a specific location at a specific time. an index of "1" indicates veyr weak ultraviolet rays, while an index of "11" indicates extremely powerful ultraviolet rays. It is recommended that you minimize your time in the sun when the UV index is high to help limit your exposure to the sun's damaging rays.
