WeatherBug Protect turns your mobile device into a potential life-saving alerting system by delivering precise, local weather alerts before severe weather becomes a threat. WeatherBug Protect is a location-based mobile solution that proactively alerts end users when severe weather threats are detected or predefined weather thresholds (customized by the user) are exceeded within their proximity.
Protect integrates data from the National Weather Service (NWS) along with data from the WeatherBug network – the only source for truly live, local weather – providing users access to the largest network of professional weather stations in the US and thousands of locations around the world. The system continuously monitors potentially threatening weather conditions, analyzes weather alerts and approaching storms within a designated range each end user's specific location and then formats and delivers the appropriate alert message based on the user’s weather profile and mobile device.

- Proactive LBS alerting technology delivers critical alerts to handsets even when the application is turned "off" due to smart tracking technology.
- WeatherBug’s Meteorological Operations Center monitors changing weather conditions 24/7 and authorizes each alert.
- No full mailbox or long queue of pending alerts. Alerts are automatically removed from the application when they expire. Expired alerts are never downloaded to the phone—even if the phone was off for a long period of time.
- Smart inbox technology displays active alerts ONLY and automatically moves expired alerts to the History folder from where they are automatically deleted after 24 hours.
- Online personalization portal available to registered WeatherBug Protect customers where users can manage Protect settings for their handset, including: adjust weather alert settings, set silence time, define static locations and read the user manual.
- GIS/GPS grade hi-resolution alert maps, including three layers of weather data: Lightning, Radar and National Weather Service "Watches" and "Warnings." Includes zoom and pan navigation as well as a legend for all layers.
