The Washington area received a barrage of hail and torrential rain on May 2, with quarter-sized hail stones (1 inch in diameter) spotted across the District and in northern Virgina and southern Maryland. Some place just outside of Rockville, Md. saw hail as large as baseballs, or 2.75 inches in diameter.
This footage shows a hail barrage in Great Falls, located in Virginia’s Fairfax County, which is about 30 minutes away from the heart of Washington by car.
