Following a busy week in the tropics, the weekend is ending on a much quieter note. Former Hurricane Dora is now a remnant low in the Eastern Pacific while a very weak disturbance bears watching in the Atlantic.

Post-tropical cyclone Dora is located at 23.9 North and 114.5 West, or 150 miles west of Cabo San Lazaro, Mexico moving northwest at 8 mph. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to 30 mph and this remnant low will likely dissipate tonight or Monday thanks to cooler water is moving across.

Swells along the southwestern coast of Baja California will gradually subside over the next day or so.

Meanwhile, hanging on a by a thread, a tropical wave is producing showers and storms in Hispaniola. Fortunately, its interaction with land and strong upper-level winds will curb its ability to organize in the next day or so.

Although the Atlantic Hurricane season has been quiet so far, tropical storm activity generally increases this time in July, with the peak occurring from late August through early October.
