James West
Senior Meteorologist, Editorial Content Editor

James West has over 10 years of professional experience in meteorology. His first job was in the Netherlands working for MeteoConsult, the largest private weather firm in Europe. After two and a half years of forecasting for North Sea oil rigs and ships and spending his free time traveling across Europe, he returned to the U.S., taking a position at USA TODAY, working under the tutelage of weather legend Jack Williams (Author of the famous "USA TODAY Weather Book").

During this time, James researched and edited parts of the USA TODAY Weather Page and the weather section of USATODAY.com. He also went on his first tornado chase in 2001 which was summarized day-by-day at USATODAY.com. Two and half years later, James took a new position as a Presentation Producer at USATODAY.com where he researched, wrote and produced Award-winning multimedia features.

In 2005, he joined the WeatherBug team, producing weather content for WeatherBug and WeatherBug.com.

James earned a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology from Penn State University.

Fun Fact: "When I’m not working, I love traveling to new and exciting places with my wife. We have traveled to such places as Florida, Las Vegas, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, London and Europe. For our honeymoon, we took a trip of a lifetime to New Zealand and Australia. The photo (below) is of me standing on Franz Josef Glacier on the South Island of New Zealand."
