Louisville weather can be quite violent in the spring and summer. Central Kentucky is no stranger to severe weather and it is not uncommon during these months for storms to produce large hail and deadly tornadoes.
The deadliest tornado in Louisville weather history struck the city and surrounding areas in March of 1890. This storm alone is responsible for 76 fatalities.
