A stronger offshore flow this morning has delayed the east coast sea breeze but surface observations show the sea breeze is developing south of the cape where isolated showers will develop into lightning storms just inland from the Treasure Coast. Another favored area for showers and storms in the near term is in Okeechobee County associated with the Lake Okeechobee breeze boundary. The sea breeze will develop north of the cape too by mid afternoon and press slowly inland where lightning storms should increase in coverage especially toward evening as the sea breeze collides with the west coast sea breeze pushing in from the Florida gulf coast. In the meantime... Isolated storms may develop near the larger Inland Lakes...such as Lake George or Lake Apopka. Slow storm motion will promote heavy rainfall accumulating up to 3 inches in some spots...likely causing temporary flooding of roads and poor drainage areas.
