At 850 PM...an area of heavy rain showers was located east of Placerville. This area of showers is moving to the east at 15 mph. Expect local ponding of water on roads and reduced visibility in heavy rain. A mixture of rain and snow is possible over elevations above 6000 feet...with a brief snow shower near the pass levels. Motorists are urged to use caution while driving on highway 50 east of Placerville and highway 88 east of Pioneer. Ponding of water coupled with reduced visibility and slippery conditions could Combine to bring locally hazardous conditions. Additional showers on highways 32 and 70 between Chester and Quincy could bring a brief period of heavy rain through 10 PM. The storms are expected to continue moving to the east and taper off later this evening.
